The Best Deal Finder calculator
Hey, hey, hey. You know that moment at Poya or PX Mart (Taiwan’s go-to drugstore and supermarket chains), when there’s a big size and a small size at different prices and you just stand there with no idea which one to buy?
You want the better deal, obviously. But is the big one always cheaper? Not necessarily, right? Especially with refill packs.
So you open the calculator, work out the first one, try to hold that number in your head, work out the second, and by then the first one’s gone.
With my goldfish brain, I fall apart right there in the aisle.
Take cola, for example:
The store has three sizes of cola on the shelf:
- 250ml / NT$25
- 600ml / NT$35
- 1,250ml / NT$59
Which one’s the best deal? Can you answer in 3 seconds?
The answer is the 1,250ml: about NT$47 a liter.
But you have to do the math three times to find out. Three times, standing in the aisle, with your kid hanging off your arm and whining.
So I built this.
It’s called Best Deal Finder. It’s free, there’s nothing to download, and once you add it to your phone’s home screen it works just like an app.
Enter the price and size, the Sweet Spot tag lights up on its own, and the fight’s over in 3 seconds.
Expiry dates and freshness are your call.
How to use it:
Open the link and start using it. No sign-up, no download. The interface is in Chinese, but all you type in is numbers. You can also tap “Add to Home Screen” and from then on open it straight from your phone, just like an app.
👇 Just open the link and go
Two rows are already set up, so just type in the price and size. Pick your own unit, and make sure everything in one comparison uses the same unit.
It calculates as soon as you fill it in, and the Sweet Spot tag lights up. If you’re comparing several, the cheapest one gets flagged for you. No judgment calls required.
If you find it useful, there’s a “buy me a coffee” button in the bottom right. Entirely at your own discretion.
